First storm of spring 2021

No rest for the wicked. A day after taking that hike with my mate Ben (see my previous post), it is off camping to make the most of the last weekend of the school holidays.

After a quick morning of packing the car and shopping for some food we are on our way. Not a long drive this time and before we know it, we are at the camp site.

Once again storms are predicted. This time we are in the firing line as the radar shows a storm definitely heading our way. I decide to not set up the swag and instead head out to see if I can get my first spring lightning photos.

I manage to capture a couple of daytime lightning bolts. I was quite pleased with this as I find it hard to capture lightning during the day.

I did however have to make a hasty retreat to camp before long as there was a massive roar from the approaching storm. I thought we were in for some hail and strong winds. Both things that are not good when camping. Thankfully though we did not get hail and we were somewhat protected from the stronger winds by a ridgeline.

After a short period, the storm died down. We were then able to eat some dinner, set up camp and settling into our camping adventure.
